Command Palette

The command palette is how you get around and get things done. Open it from anywhere with ⌘K (or Ctrl K on Windows), or by pressing the 3-layer button next to any email.

Start typing, and the list narrows to the action you’re looking for. Use to move, Enter to run, and Esc to close.

What it offers depends on where you are. Open it with a conversation selected, and you get actions for that conversation. Open it from a list and you get actions for navigating around.

Acting on a conversation

With a conversation selected, the palette helps you take quick actions on emails. Quickly mark emails as read, starred, spam or done. Remind me brings the conversation back later, or you can write a quick note that you (and your agent) can see for later reference.

Writing

Type Write or Compose to draft a reply. You can also Reply, Reply all, or Forward to someone new.

Not ready to send? Send later schedules your reply to go out at a time you pick.

Templates

Templates are bits of text you send often, whether a quick one-liner or a full reply. Housecat can generate templates for you by looking at your sent emails and finding the most common patterns. Type template: to search and insert one into a reply, or open Manage templates to create and edit them.

You can also start a whole message from one: type Reply with… to answer an existing thread using a template, or Compose using… to start a fresh message from one.

You can also trigger common emails right from the command palette:

  • Send follow-up — drafts a reply using your follow-up template.
  • Accept intro — moves the person you were introduced to into Bcc, brings the introducer into To, and drops in a thank-you template.
  • Accept meeting time — replies that the time works and creates the calendar invite for everyone on the thread.
  • Find a time — replies using your standard find-a-time template.

Workflows

Use Housecat workflows to automate common and annoying manual work, such as:

  • Summarize — a short summary of the thread so far.
  • Research — uses an LLM to research the people and companies involved.
  • Create GitHub issue — turns the thread into a GitHub issue.
  • Send to Slack — forwards the conversation to a channel or DM on Slack.
  • Pull in Granola note — attaches the related meeting note to the thread.
  • Save attachments — saves the thread’s attachments into Google Drive.
  • Open Google Doc / Open Google Sheet — opens a related doc or sheet.
  • Email sequence — kicks off a multi-step email sequence.

CRM

Keep your records current without switching apps.

  • Add deal to CRM / Attio (etc.) — create a new entry in your Housecat CRM or the CRM you already use, such as Attio, Hubspot or Affinity.
  • Update CRM / Attio (etc.) — update an existing record.
  • You can also Add a note or Move the deal stage to update your pipeline.

Open in an AI assistant

Hand the conversation to the assistant of your choice and keep working there. Open in Claude Desktop, Claude Cowork, or Claude Code, or in ChatGPT or Gemini.

Getting around

From any list, the palette also gets you where you’re going:

  • Get help or send feedback — page a member of the Housecat team to flag that something looks wrong, or get help on anything.
  • Refresh — checks for latest emails.
